Sell-through and reorders / Gloway Trade Case Study

Use sales evidence to plan the next shipment

How warehouse sales and remaining stock can inform a different product mix for the next order.

1. The situation

A diaspora food distributor repeats an earlier container mix while some products move quickly and others remain in stock.

2. The problem

Total shipment profit can conceal weak SKUs and slow inventory that ties up working capital.

3. Starting position

This hypothetical example compares a 16-week sell-through period with a 12-week period; there is no underlying verified sales dataset.

4. What the analysis revealed

Demand, stock balances and cash conversion should inform quantities rather than simply repeating the last shipment.

5. What Gloway would do

Review receipts and product-level sales; identify fast/slow movers; adjust recommended quantities against remaining stock, demand forecasts and capital limits.

6. Illustrative result

The sample uses a 4-week reduction from 16 to 12 weeks (25% shorter). It is illustrative, not a documented Gloway achievement; payment collection is separate.

7. Evidence required to publish a real case

A case is not upgraded to “achieved” or “verified” until the relevant transaction evidence has been reviewed and disclosure consent obtained.

  • Warehouse receipt dates and starting inventory
  • Dated SKU-level sales and remaining-stock records
  • Comparable shipment and pricing assumptions
  • Documented reorder quantities and realization period

8. What this teaches

What sells, how quickly and at what margin is stronger reorder evidence than a product list alone.

9. The next sourcing cycle

Feed actual sell-through into GloSource planning and validate results after the following cycle.
